How weighted GPA math works at UWM

Most University of Wisconsin-Milwaukeecourses divide your grade into weighted categories. Homework might count for 20%, midterms 30%, the final 40%, and participation 10%. Your grade is the sum of each category's percentage times its weight, divided by the total weight of graded categories.

The tricky part: ungraded categories (like a final you haven't taken) drop out of the current-grade calculation. That means a 95 now can slide to a B once the final counts. This calculator shows you both numbers.

Why your gradebook grade is often misleading

Most gradebooks show the average of graded work only. The categories you haven't been graded on yet still carry weight in your final grade, so the number you see today will shift. This calculator lets you model what happens when the rest of the semester counts.
